Community

Travel is richer when it's rooted in human connection. The people, cultures, and stories we encounter along the way are what make our trips truly meaningful, not just for us, but for the communities who welcome us.

At Explore, we believe tourism works best when it's built on genuine relationships and mutual respect. That means taking the time to listen and learn from local traditions and wisdom, rather than simply passing through. It means working thoughtfully with the communities in the places we visit, making sure their voices shape the experiences we offer. And it means being honest about the responsibility that comes with bringing groups of travellers into people's homes and lives.

We're committed to ensuring that tourism creates real, lasting benefits for local people, from economic opportunities like supporting locally owned businesses and employing local guides, to helping preserve the cultural heritage that makes each destination unique.

Through our local partners and the work of the Explore Foundation, we're channelling that commitment into action on the ground: funding education, supporting livelihoods, and empowering communities to shape their own futures.

Explore Foundation

The Explore Foundation is a registered charity with a mission to positively impact the lives of communities worldwide.

The Explore Foundation is managed by an independent Board of Trustees, yet it benefits from Explore Worldwide’s huge community of overseas partners and contacts. Through this network, the Foundation identifies and supports projects in countries that Explore customers visit, working to deliver support where it’s most needed.

Cool Earth

For every customer who travels with us, we donate to Cool Earth, a charity that puts rainforest communities at the heart of protecting our planet. Our donations are directed specifically to Cool Earth's work in the Peruvian Amazon, where they work with seven indigenous communities across three areas of the Peruvian rainforest, including the Awajún and Asháninka peoples. Cool Earth listens to the people living in the rainforest and works in partnership with indigenous leaders to get funds directly to those best placed to use them  - funding everything from beehives, solar farms to satellite technology.

Giving back, together

We believe our people have so much more to offer than what happens inside our head office. That's why every Explore employee gets two paid volunteer days each year to give back to their local community, and we genuinely encourage everyone to use them.

It's something we care enough about that volunteering is built into our company goals, so it stays a real priority rather than a nice idea that never quite happens. The result? Hundreds of hours logged each year, with staff getting out and doing things that actually matter to them and the communities around them.

Purpose paper

As a purpose-led business, we want to held accountable for People and Planet goals too. We're delighted to share our latest Purpose Paper, which charts our successes in these, and also our areas for more focus. Read about:

- Our targets for next year
- How we've given back through volunteering and charity matchfunding
